Loss Changes Everything
Navigating life after loss is challenging, whether your loved one died recently or many years ago. Finding a group of people where you can experience comfort, caring, and hope on the journey through grief is important.
The Spring 2026 Grief Support Group will meet on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Cornerstone United Methodist Church in O’Fallon starting on Feb. 25, 2026. You can join the group at any point along the 11-week journey.
No matter where you are on your grief journey, this group offers understanding hearts, listening ears, and a community of care ready to walk alongside you.
Who Can Participate?
This safe and compassionate group is open to all adults who have experienced the death of a loved one. You don’t need to belong to a church—or to any faith at all—to participate. Come every week or join in as you’re schedule allows.

Group Format & Resources
Our weekly group conversations will draw from the “10 Essential Touchstones” by grief expert Dr. Alan Wolfelt. The group is co-facilitated by Rev. Linda Potter & Kim Zohner.
The Ten Essential Touchstones:
1. Open to the presence of your loss.
2. Dispel misconceptions about grief.
3. Embrace the uniqueness of your grief.
4. Explore what you might experience.
5. Understand the six needs of mourning.
6. Recognize you are not crazy.
7. Nurture yourself.
8. Reach out for help.
9. Seek reconciliation, not resolution.
10. Appreciate your transformation.
Book & Journal
While there is no cost or fee to participate in the group, you are highly encouraged to purchase a book and journal to enhance your healing experience.

Optional Pre-Group Dinner
An optional dinner will be available most Wednesdays between 5 to 6:30 p.m.—a great way to nourish your body and connect with others before the support group starts.
Be sure to pre-order your meals by the Sunday before the group. These community dinners are open to everyone, so feel free to bring family and friends. Meal information will be sent to those who register.
